Growing businesses that use telemarketing to reach consumers have been urged by an expert to avoid traditional ways of using the channel.
The Managing Director of Marketing Group Isogon, Dean Faulkner, said the use of scripted cold calls and other strategies that "may have worked ten years ago" is no longer useful.
According to the expert, consumers are now very aware when such strategies are being used and ten to "switch off" from calls early on.
He explained: "Our experience demonstrates that effective nurturing of prospects will increase the return from marketing campaigns by a minimum of ten times within a six month period.
"By switching their focus away from traditional telemarketing techniques and turning their focus to effective prospect nurturing the marketing team will be 'doing things right'."
Mark Swanson, director of business development for Tele Resources, told TMCNet.com last year that it is also very important to have focused data lists when using telemarketing.
